When it comes to the future, there’s always two sides of the coin. There’s one side where it is exciting and another where it is terrifying. It really depends on mindset of the future. For the longest time, probably since I was a little girl, I always looked forward to the future. I looked forward to the day where I become the most famous screenwriter in Hollywood, get married and have kids, and grow old with that foundation. Now as a 25 year old woman, I look forward to similar and different things due to, well, life and age.
The biggest thing I am looking forward to is marrying the love of my life. As shallow as it sounds, it’s true. When you find the person you love so much that you cannot imagine life without them, all there’s left to do is to marry the person. For the longest time, I just looked forward to the wedding, the “I do”, and the whole scenery. Now, I just look forward to the life we’ll have together for the rest of our lives as husband and wife. Where will we get married? I am not so sure, it’s a group project. But I’m hoping to get married here in the state of Oregon either by the Gorge or in Central Oregon. But I know the one person I want to marry and that is my love, Brennan.
Another thing to look forward to is to one day buy a house and start a family right here in the valley. Now don’t get me wrong, I love the apartment I have been living in for the last almost 4 months. The area is quiet aside from the traffic on the other side of the complex, and it is safe and family friendly. But it would be nice to have a 2-3 bedroom house to grow a family there. When talking about growing a family, Brennan is very open about either producing children, adopting children, or not having any children at all. With the uncertainties of fertility, I’d rather adopt than give birth; besides, there are so many children out there that needs homes and a loving family.
Travel is something that we all look forward to, it is an escape from our day to day life, a palate cleanser, a reboot, a whatever you want to call it. There has been some ideas of travel that I would like to go on. For train travel, I’d love to do the Amtrak California Zephyr, which goes from Chicago IL to San Fransisco CA, roughly 40-60 hours across the country. I did the Empire builder and that took me up to the northern part of the states but with the California Zephyr, you get to see more landscapes than the Empire Builder and probably more natural landmarks as well. Another place I’d like to visit solo in America is New York, especially the 9/11 memorial and museum, but other than that I would visit just for the food. The place I would love to go with my dad would be to Graceland, yes Elvis’s estate in Memphis. Why? He was the one that introduced me to Elvis as a little girl and I feel like that’s my way of saying thanks to dad. Personally, I hope to do it soon due to my dad’s age and I don’t want to miss that opportunity. Outside the state, I’d love to visit the Anglo Saxon area (England, Ireland, Scotland, Northern Ireland, etc), Poland, Sweden because my ancestors are from there, and I would love to revisit Germany as well because it’s beautiful. Another thing on my bucket list is to do the Holy Land excursion in Israel but due to the waring conflicts going on, I’d wait out for a bit.
Having something to look forward to in the future is something special. It gives you hope for something whenever you feel like there’s nothing to to look forward to as well as something to get your mind off of and dream. Dreaming is something that is not used in todays world and we’re kind of forced to be real, grow up and be here. Allow yourself to dream, allow yourself to have something to look forward to so that hope and happiness is still there.
